I wrote a post just the other day about how much I need sleep, and how much we all NEED sleep. At the end of that post I made a promise that I would share with you where I shop for my bedroom decor. I often receive compliments, and questions about my bedroom, so I thought why not share some of my favourite places to shop for bedding and bedroom accessories. I couldn’t resist adding some of my favourite sleep quotes with you, and then there is my absolute favourite one . . .

“Your eyes water when you yawn because you miss your bed and it makes you sad.”

It is so true, I do miss my bed usually the minute I get out of it, and some mornings I am doing the school drop off with those watery eyes lol. So what makes my bed so cosy? Honestly it is more than the bed and mattress, it is about having a room that is relaxing. A space where I feel safe, and restful.

Our bedroom really should be our sanctuary. And this goes for our children too. We all deserve our own space, a space where we feel relaxed, warm, cosy, and comfortable. So my advice is make sure you decorate and style your room with comfort in mind.

One question I get asked a lot is where is my chunky knitted merino wool throw from. It is from Keeks and Chuck  and is as divine as it looks.

It also comes in other colours like this sweet pink featured below.

My wall decor is a mix from Marshmello and Kikki K.

My side table on the left in the photo is from Top3 Design. The side table on the right is from West Elm.

My bedspread, Sheets and Pillow cases are all from Sheridan Luxury Bedding.

My Reindeer Rug is from Great Dane Furniture.

My cushions are from Country Road Home.

The only problem with a comfy room is others want to hang out in there too, although I kind of like that.

A few extra tips for creating a restful retreat.

Keep your colour palate relaxing, look to colours that inspire restfulness. Muted Blue is one of the most calming colours you will find, as opposed to dark purples and reds which a lest restful. Most shades of blue and grey create a restful retreat feel (even the darker hues). Pale greens, or lavender can also make you feel relaxed. White is OK, but try not too make the white too bright or stark.

Consider your lighting choices. Steer clear of very bright lighting, bed side lamps create a more intimate lighting feel. Think about adding blinds too so you can control the natural light in your room.

A few pampering items should be included in your room to make you feel even more relaxed before bed. Next to my bed, (along with my books, and gratitude journal), I keep my Jo Malone Red Roses Body Creme. It’s a little way to pamper myself before I get into bed.

If you are having trouble sleeping a beautiful night mist or relaxing room spray can help, try lavender pillow mist.
