Sometimes it feels like I’m anonymous.

Walking on her streets

like one soul amongst millions of souls,

each of us existing side by side,

separate minds,

bodies are our own,

memories we make for ourselves.

Yet if I fall I know these strangers will help me rise,

if I bleed they will be by my side,

this is my city,

my Melbourne,

where alone never truly means alone,

busy as we rush by,

there is still time for that smile.

Great coffee is the smell of my home,

chatter and laughter is her voice,

cheer of her sports is her calling card.

And when I am away I will miss her

remembering her streets until my heart’s full,

as I hear her calling for me,

“come home”.
