Last week I spoke about the importance of complimenting people on more than just the way they look, and I set a challenge. 7 compliments in 7 days! How did you go? Did you give it a go? I did and it was fabulous!

I have to say it was even easier than I thought. There are so many amazing people out there and so many women every day who impressed me over this past week. When you stop and look around, really notice people you become inspired by the inner beauty that shines from people.

Life is demanding and we are all guilty of getting caught up in our busy worlds. But if we don’t stop to thank people, appreciate even the little things people do to make our life easier, or happier, then we miss out on the little pockets of warmth and joy in our everyday lives.

I was at an appointment the other day and the receptionist was clearly swamped. I also had a lot on and didn’t really have the time to be dealing with her trying to put out the spot fires (so to speak) at her desk. We were both presented with two options, get frustrated and possibly act cold or rude to one another, or both be patient and realise that getting frustrated would only make both our days worse. Thankfully we both chose the second option. She apologised and I waited patiently. When she was free to give me her attention we had a lovely exchange and I took the opportunity to practise my complimenting skills on her. Needless to say we both walked away from our encounter feeling positive. She received a genuine and lovely compliment, which I could tell she was happy about and I walked away feeling great about the way I had turned a negative into a positive.

That is the thing about compliments, they make both the receiver and the giver feel happier. It feels like a warm glow inside of us. This week I took the opportunity to make sure I gave an honest compliment to someone everyday, it was easy, and it felt really, really great.

Complimenting others is like letting your inner beauty glow. So this week I will continue with my 7 compliments in 7 days challenge, because it really doesn’t even feel like a challenge, it just feels great. I hope you can join me, let’s start a complement revolution and make the world a happier place.
