If you are just quiet, if you can just be still, you will hear it.
Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.
William S. Burroughs
The New Year almost arrived and I have spent some time over the past couple of weeks seeking out opportunities to listen to my heart, to be still and quiet.
What is it that truly makes me happy, and what makes me feel at peace? Last year I decided I was going to live Fearlessly Authentic. I was going to be me, despite spending a large part of my life feeling I wasn’t ever good enough, and trying to be less like me, it was time to stop being so afraid to be my true self. It hasn’t always been easy, when you spend a lifetime thinking you are not worthy of good things, and you are not good enough, it is hard to break old habits. It is a long, sometimes tough journey to begin to love yourself and accept you are perfectly imperfect just the way you are. I have learnt so much though and have loved seeing how my authenticity has inspired others to be more authentic within themselves.
Rather than a set of goals or resolutions, I have decided this year to chose one word that I find inspires me. I will share this is a future blog post.
I want you to think about a word, or a saying, that will inspire you in 2018. Take the time to reflect, to be still, to quiet your mind and listen to your heart. This is your life, so make your word, or resolutions about you, and your inner peace. If you listen hard enough to your heart, the answer will come to you.
Wishing you new adventures, lots of laughter, and moments of peaceful reflection for 2018. May you continue to live Fearlessly Authentic.
Happy New Year!
Thanks for joining me in 2017, love Mac xx

The phrase I’m going to live by this year is Be Here Now. I always seem to be thinking about what needs to be done next, so I’m missing what is right in front of me.
Looking forward to reading your word is, MG. I’ve got a linky up for #WOTY – please feel free to join.
So simple, yet so very powerful! <3 Mac! Happy 2018! xoxo #mg
Mine is Gratitude. Looking forward to yours.
I often think of your phrase – ‘living fearlessly authentic’ Mac and with the help of your posts and others bloggers like you (Lucy too) and also with my mindfulness I am beginning to much more happy in my own skin. Like you say it can be tough when we’ve spent all our lives adjusting who we are for other people. Stillness certainly helps me. This is a fabulous post. Thanks so much for being so inspiring. #thesatsesh xx
#thesatsesh hmmm… I think abundant will be my word. I love how it sounds on my tongue. I adore the ethos that you share and can’t wait for you to share your word and explain why…perhaps I’ll inturn share why I picked my word? anyway, keep living authentically, you’ll never look back.
Love this! Great idea to focus on a word for the year. #ablogginggoodtime
I’ve done a one-word resolution for this year too (with accompanying blog post, obvs! Lol). My word is “be” – I want to rest in each moment and just BE in it, rather than stressing about the past and the future. I want to be content in who I am, where I am, and what I am. Thank you for the encouragement to keep going with my goal #ablogginggoodtime
Just one word: “Positive”
Beautiful and so meaningful. My word this year is compassion. Compassion for myself when that inner voice starts to berate me and compassion for others even when I don’t agree with them.

I’ve been setting a word for the year since 4 years now – this is my 5th year choosing a WOTY. I find that it shapes my life in beautiful ways – minus the drama and guilt associated with traditional goal setting.
Hmmm…I haven’t picked a word for 2018! I think mine will be ‘brave’. There’s so many things I’ve held back from doing because I’ve been scared or self-conscious but this year I’m going to put myself out there – what’s the worst that could happen?! Lol #ablogginggoodtime
Such a lovely post. Happy New Year to you. I shall have to think of a word. sarah #ablogginggoodtime
Beautiful post Mac. I have been finding some peace and calm amidst the madness here and my word for this year is Hope.
Fearlessly authentic is great Mac and sparkle is great too. Good luck. Pen x #ablogginggoodtime
The one word that continues to jump out from the posts I am reading recently is ‘inspire’. I wonder if that could be a calling – to inspire through ones posts. #ablogginggoodtime
I’ve recently discovered the power of peace and of calm and am trying to build some quiet time into my daily life #ablogginggoodtime
Great idea to just choose on word for the focus of the year. I’m not sure what mine would be, I need to follow your advice and take some time to think about it and listen to my heart XX #ablogginggoodtime
