We all have some seriously frustrating kid moments like when your child decides to draw on the wall, (yes this happened to me a week after we moved into our newly built home with pure white gallery style walls, he was only forgiven because he was not quite 2 at the time) and some kids like to see how much toilet paper they can fit into the toilet, (this was curtesy of my nephew who wanted to see if the whole roll would flush). But we also all have those extra cute moments that melt our hearts.

My best friend was concerned that her 5 year old didn’t like her kisses as he was always wiping them off. She finally decided to ask himdon’t you like mummy’s kisses”? He looked at her all curious and answered, “I love them, that is why I am spreading them”. How cute is that!

My son on the other hand decided to inform his Nan today that by the time he grows up she will probably be dead, (nice one Adam, NOT!)

Our kids give us the biggest headaches, the greatest laughter and more happiness than we ever thought possible.ย

Some days they completely take us by surprise. A couple of months ago Adam was invited to a superhero party, he insisted he was ‘not‘ dressing up, and there was no convincing him. We looked at loads of different costumes in the shops, I was at the point where I was willing to even buy an expensive costume just to get him in one. But no, there was no way. On the day I convinced him to wear a T-shirt that at least said ‘Batman’ on it, whilst all the other boys and girls flew around with capes and pretend muscles. He didn’t mind one bit that he was the odd one out, and I guess I saved myself some money.

For his recent birthday a friend gave him a Batman dress up costume, I wasn’t sure how it would go down with him, well just to prove me wrong, he loved it! In fact he put it on straight away and wore it the rest of the day. He even kept checking himself out in the mirror.

He then informed me he wanted to be Dark Vader (yes ‘Dark‘ according to Adam, it is not Darth Vader that would be silly mummy) for school dress up day. I was so excited that he was willing to go in public with a dress up on that I happily jumped online and ordered his costume. It arrived with one day to spare! The morning of the parade he decided he wasn’t sure about the mask and tried to leave it behind as he entered the classroom. Well again he surprised me when there he was up on stage wearing the mask! I guess we just never know how it is going to turn out when ย 6 year old is involved.

Our children really do keep our lives interesting. Adam has become obsessed with chess since our trip away last weekendย where they had a giant chess set. He has been playing chess all week since we got home. His big sister agreed to play with him today and his response was, “don’t worry I’ll go easy on you”. (So generous).

I love being a mum, yes I complain that sometimes I am going insane, but you know what, I wouldn’t change it for the world. OK maybe some moments? No I’ll keep them all, the good, the bad and the totally hilarious!

Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx
