ladies night

For me this past weekend really kicked off in the middle of the night on Thursday. Why? Because my bestest friend (since age 11), flew in from the North of Queensland! We ring or message every other day, but we haven’t seen each other in over a year! Usually we catch up once or twice a year, but we have both had so much on with our families and both moved into new homes, and had other holidays booked that we just hadn’t caught up in way too long! So let’s just say we had a lot of chatting to do! Although we call regularly one of us in always interrupted by our children, or we have to cut it short because we are busy, so when we get together we basically don’t shut up. 

Another gorgeous friend of mine covered my shift at work so I could have all Friday free after doing the school run. We had our nails painted, hair done and enjoyed coffee and lunch.

We caught up with another friend from our school days and shopped and then went home to finish setting up for my 40th birthday celebration!

I had 25 of my closest girlfriends, (for those of you that were away I missed you), come over for a ladies only night of champagne, wine, cheese, chocolate and cake! Plus loads of laughs, dancing and craziness. Yes I kicked my hubby, my kids and poor Holly-Rose (the dog) out for the night, so I could let loose and dance the night away with the girls.

A few ladies slept over, including my sister who shared a bed with me. We finally made our way upstairs at 4:30am. Needless to say I am never drinking champagne again! I can barely drink half a glass as it is, so for me to have more than that was not wise lol.

I call this “The Extremely Tired Selfie” lol, I sent this to my hubby on Saturday morning, can’t believe I am actually showing you all this!

It was an awesome night though, beyond awesome I had a ball, and felt so loved. The gifts were way too generous, but so thoughtful, the laughs were fabulous, the champagne was flowing and there was an abundance of love in the room! One gorgeous friend set up a surprise photo session with signs and gave me all the polaroids as a surprise late into the night it was so sweet! Another friend made me a gorgeous cake, and others brought champagne and cupcakes.

Saturday moring rolled into Saturday afternoon by the time my best friend and I left for our night in the city. We stayed in Melbourne’s Intercontinental Hotel, ate dinner in a Melbourne laneway and then desert in a chocolate cafe.

Sunday began with coffee!!!!! And more chatting over breakfast! My other bestie from school came back in to meet us and we shopped and drank more coffee. Then it was time to drop my bestie back at the airport and say a rushed goodbye as she almost missed her flight!!!! Then home to see my gorgeous hubby and kids who I missed like crazy!

Thanks to all the gorgeous, strong, amazing, inspiring women in my life who helped me celebrate. I feel like the luckiest woman ever to have a sister and friends like you xoxo And thanks to everyone who has sent me amazing birthday messages over the last couple of weeks, the celebrations are finally over lol xx
