I wake up each day with little chance to reflect upon how I am feeling, or just lay in bed and enjoy the warmth of the covers, it is time to get out of bed and start my day. I guess I could set an alarm for earlier, give myself time to laze in bed or make a cup of tea to enjoy in peace before 3 noisy children need me. I could make time to mediate. I used to wake up and do yoga every morning. I would stare at the big gum tree in front of my home and the rolling hills beyond when I was in my old home. I miss that sometimes.

Lately I am just so tired in the mornings, I sleep until the very last minute I can, and then rush around trying to get myself ready and the children ready. The one indulgence I allow myself is to enjoy my shower, I try and be mindful and feel the warmth of the water running over my tired shoulders and use beautiful smelling products that awaken and soothe my senses. Of course I am often disturbed by children or my dog.

It is hard at times to really be mindful of what it is we are experiencing. We eat too fast to enjoy the taste and textures of our food, we rush to and from activities with our children, we are constantly texting or on Facebook rather than enjoying the quiet. As a blogger a lot of my are time is spent on Twitter or Instagram, rather than relaxing with a good book.

I have written posts before about slowing down, about mindfulness and being more present in our own lives, yet lately this has escaped me more than I would like. On Friday night I was so tired and I walked in the house with 3 tired children and bags of groceries to unpack. And I saw this

and so I did. I allowed myself a short amount of time to unpack school bags and groceries and then I relaxed. I sat in my room which I love, and just let myself unwind. I am responsible for how I feel, we are all responsible for our own feelings, actions and reactions. If we take the time to recharge and let any stresses of the day melt away we will feel so much better and so will those around us.

I felt inspired to join in the Friday Reflections prompt which asked me to write about what I could see out of my window. It was actually a really peaceful and mindful post to write as it made me stop and take notice of what the world was like outside my window. You can read it here.

Sometimes even I need a reminder to stop, and let things just be. We all need that sometimes.

Here are 3 quotes that will hopefully inspire you to relax a little and be closer to inner peace.

Like I said we all need reminding now and then that we need to relax and unwind. When we wake up and jump into the day without taking time to greet the day properly we are starring our day off with stress. And when we carry that through the day and then take it to bed again that night we are damaging our minds, and our health. We are also sending negative vibes out to those around us.

Taking time to relax is so important, we are living in a fast paced world where media is now in our faces 24/7 bombarding us with images that frighten us, and affect our ability to love, and relax. We are constantly plugged into negativity and stress, and even spending hours on Facebook we are seeing what everyone else is doing and trying to live up to it, or hearing people bitch and moan about anything and everything, it is exhausting and depleting us of happiness, and positivity.

That is why I love this last quote, it is up to us to find peace, look within yourself toady and to remember that you deserve to love yourself.
