Me time. A time to relax, to indulge in our own passions, an opportunity to de-stress, relax, be at peace. Maybe luxuriate in a long, warm bubble bath, a deep tissue massage, getting your nails done, or curling up with a great book. Or perhaps relaxing and reading awesome blog posts from Reflections From Me, (haha couldn’t resist).
- A five minute breathing or meditation session. Just find a peaceful spot, where you can be alone without any interruptions. You can listen to a mindfulness exercise, or just spend five minutes concentrating on your breathing. Sit comfortably and rest your hands on your stomach. Take 3 deep breathes, now settle into a comfortable breathing pattern. Try to clear your mind. Imagine breathing in light and love, and breathing out any tension. As you breathe in more light and love, start to imagine sending this light out to the world.
- A great book. If you love to read then grab a book and carve out some time each day to read. Even if you only get through a few pages, it is important to make time for the things you love.
- A great cup of tea. Enjoy wrapping your hands around a lovely warm mug. Take in the aromas, sip slowly and enjoy a moment of peace.
- Head to the gym or for a walk. Exercise releases happiness into your heart and mind. It is great for you both physically and mentally.
- Head out with your camera. I love heading out and taking beautiful photographs. It is a wonderful way to appreciate the beauty in our world.
- Book a massage, manicure, facial. Spoil yourself every now and then. You deserve a little pampering.
- Take a long bath, or an extra five minutes in the shower. Use some beautiful bath oils, or a scrub. Then smother yourself in a lovely smelling body lotion.
There are lots of wonderful things you can do for yourself. It is not always easy to find the time, but it is worth the effort. It really is true that you need to look after yourself in order to have the energy to care for others.
So this week, make a little time to do something you love. See a movie, have a lovely lunch, get a new haircut, take that yoga class, dance in the waves, make time for you!

Aside from working out, I seldom get me time. Looking at your list, I need to make myself a priority at least once a month.
Yes, like I say even five minutes can make a difference, you deserve it
Absolutely love this post, my friend! We all tend to give a little too much of ourselves as women so me time is very important to nurture us back. Thank you for your continuos support for Wellness Wednesday. Hugs!
I always love linking up. Yes we do give away a lot of ourselves, it can be so rewarding and lovely, but time for ourselves helps us reconnect with our truth.
I love everything you’ve listed Mackenzie! 🙂 I practice all of them! I particularly enjoy putting my feet up, settling into my favorite place and pretending to read a book while I actually drift away mentally – imagining, dozing, fantasizing.
I adore your photo! So joyful! Hugs!
Thank you so much! Glad you find some special time for you xx
I think this is one of the most challenging bits of life to balance for me – but that’s three small children for you and I know that the time for me time will ebb and flow and balance again – just not yet, says she writing with a baby in her arms and not for the first time!
hmm I love taking a long bath..a long hot shower is heaven! Now the kids don’t bug me anymore when I am in the bathroom so I own that kind of luxury 😀
