As we near the end of 2018, we quietly pat ourselves on the back for surviving another year of parenthood! Truth is we should be shouting it from the rafters because Parenthood is tough going, it is messy, chaotic, smelly, and most of the time goes unappreciated. It is also the best thing I have ever experienced and by the gorgeous, funny and absolutely beautiful images that all of you share on #MummyShot community on Instagram I am guessing you agree! So let’s do more than pat ourselves on the back! Let’s remind ourselves how awesome and hardworking we are, how blessed we are and how despite the tears and tantrums from both parents and children this year we did it!

Maybe you became a parent in 2018, maybe you are about too? Maybe you have been doing it for over a decade or two? No matter what stage of parenting you are at, we deserve to feel proud of ourselves, and we should also feel proud of the other parents around us, we should raise each other up, support one another, and remember that we are all in this together.

Mummy Shot has been a place where as parents, and even as grandparents, we can come together and celebrate these amazing little people in our world! It is a place where we can feel comfortable sharing images of our children with the privacy of knowing that their faces are never fully shared. This concept of wanting to share images on Instagram that captured a child’s personality and magic without showing their full face was shared by many and so one day Catie from @Spectrummum_ began the hashtag #MummyShot, and asked me to join her, obviously I said yes! Sadly for me Catie had to move on due to other demands, and the lovely @memeandharri came along to give me support.

As parents we have so much to be thankful for, there was a time where I though motherhood was out of my reach, through headache, loss and tears I battled and now I am a mum to 3 amazing children, and many fur babies too! Everyday I see as a blessing, but somedays I have also wanted to run out of the house screaming “I can’t do this!” Or questioning whether I am doing things the right way. Some days I dream of a night away, and it may have taken me years before I actually did take a night off, and then of course I missed their little faces! It really is true to say that once you have a child your heart lives outside of your body. I never knew I could love so much, or be so tired, it really is a journey, and one I am so glad that so many of you take with me, beside me and other parents as we share our images within our #MummyShot community.

Here are some flashbacks and highlights from 2018!

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing some fab pics in 2019
