I have often been heard saying that “writing for me is like breathing fresh air, I need it to survive, I say this because for me it is my truth. We all have different passions, things that make us feel happy, fulfilled, things that make us feel like we are standing arms outstretched taking a deep breath of beautiful fresh air. For me that is how I feel when I am writing, when I am expressing myself through my words. One of the ways I write is through this blog, I have been blogging for less than a year, but it has profoundly changed my life. I have also been lucky enough to be nominated for several blogging awards through my fellow bloggers over the time I have been blogging. It is an honour that they think of me, and that they think highly enough of me to nominate me.

Today I have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank you to Debbie from Debbie in Shape for thinking of me. Debbie is an amazing blogger who shares some great health and fitness tips. Here are her questions:

  • What do you like most about blogging?
  • What country would you like to visit (again)?
  • How do you come up with the topics for your blog posts?
  • When you are not blogging, you are…
  • What is your favorite quote?

What do you like most about blogging?

Blogging gives me a chance to share my soul, it has truly opened up a whole new world to me, and revealed a side of myself that I had long ago pushed away. I always loved writing, yet I felt silly admitting that because I didn’t believe what I would write would be of interest to anyone else. How wrong was I? This past 10 months has taught me that we shouldn’t question our passions, we should embrace them. We were blessed with these passions for a reason and we should explore them and take a chance on believing in ourselves. One of my favourite things about blogging is the feedback I get. For example my post titled Snow touched many people and was able to help others, in fact it will be used as part of a grief and loss service this week. I think for me that is the most rewarding part of sharing my words, knowing that they can help others.

What country would you like to visit (again)?

I have never been there, but I long to visit England. My father was born in England and I feel like it is part of me. I grew up hearing stories from my Grandmother about her home and stories of my dad’s childhood. I have wanted to visit my dad’s hometown since I was a little girl. I hope one day I will get the chance. I know I will.

How do you come up with the topics for your blog posts?

To be honest it is just whatever pops into my head. I am not a planner, although I probably should be. I tend to just go with my heart on the day. If something happens or I have a feeling I suddenly want to share, then I just go with it.

When you are not blogging, you are…

Usually running around after my 3 children, 3 kittens and 2 dogs. I have also been working hard on my novel lately, but right now I am on holidays in North Queensland, so when I’m not blogging I am at the beach, or reading a good book!

What is your favorite quote?

I don’t have a favourite quote, there are way too many to choose from. I recently shared some cheeky quotes in a blog post. But I also love writing my own quotes. I will share one of my favourites with you.

“Following your dreams, your passions is like fighting against life, it is easier to say that there is no time, there are too many things that need to be done today, fight this, fight this hard, because a life without dreams or passions can not be a life of fulfilment, fight for your inner self, fight for the freedom to be heard, fight to be you”

Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx
