As a follow up to yesterdays Friday Reflections blog post I want to share with you a piece I wrote very early on in my blogging career that was shared on a website that gave advice to authors and bloggers. I spoke a lot yesterday about how the best advice I ever received was to start my very own blog! The reason why that advice was so good for me was because it allowed me to explore who I am as a writer and to take a gamble on being myself! The piece was directed to writers, but it is a message that I believe relates to whatever inner passion you may have that you just haven’t taken a gamble on yet. I hope this inspires you to think about what it is you are passionate about and find a way to incorporate it into your life. Finding your passion is finding your true self and everyone deserves that.

Let’s face life is pretty manic, by manic I mean hectic, intense, wild, and perhaps even verging on deranged, should I go as far as demonic? OK so now I sound as crazy as can be let me introduce myself, unless of course I’ve already scared you into slamming shut your laptop! I am Mac, short for Mackenzie Glanville, I am a woman in her thirties and although I should be wise by now, I would actually describe myself as a bit of a ditz, but having three kids kind of kills your brain cells, (no jokes it’s worse than consuming alcohol, but makes you happier too.) I am a lover of writing, actually it has recently been the only thing keeping me sane. For way too long I stopped writing, and I couldn’t think what was missing in my life, my hubby is amazing, my kids are awesome, I love my friends, but something was missing, I felt like I had lost my identity, I was lacking the passion for life. I pulled out the old fashioned paper and pen and started jotting things down, suddenly I was breathing again. I love, love, love it, you got the point right? Well in case you missed it I love writing!

I am like many of you out there, an inspiring author and a blogger. And like a lot of writers, I am a little (or a lot depending on any given day,) insane. One thing I decided when getting into blogging was I can only be me, take me or leave me, I am who I am. I just can’t be fake, or write about things I don’t know or believe in. It is the advice I would give to any aspiring writers or bloggers out there, be you! It can be immensely intimidating reading other peoples blogs and thinking s*** I’m not as funny as them, not as smart, not as well informed, or even experienced. When I started blogging I felt like no one would even read my stuff, seriously why would they? Then I started getting amazing feedback and I cried like a baby, (OK another confession I can cry at sad TV commercials, yep crazy lady alert!) I was so surprised that people out there liked what I had to say!

It went on to give more advice to writers that I haven’t included here. When I began I was a complete novice when it came to the blogging world, all I knew was that I loved to write, that it was in my blood, it is the very core of who I am. Yes there has been a lot to learn, there is still so much I need to learn, but I don’t think you see learning as a burden when you are learning something you love. So yes life is a little manic, we all have so much going on, but we have to have room for our passions, if we don’t then what is the point?

Life is to be embraced, life is to be enjoyed! Remember when we were children and we thought that we could be whatever we wanted when we grew up? Well what if that’s still possible? What if you can still be the person you were always meant to be? Why don’t you take a gamble on being yourself and just see where it leads you!
