Things that mums learn;

  • Just because your child is sleepy, does not mean they will actually want to go to bed.
  • Just because you cook a meal, does not mean they will eat it.
  • You will be vomited on.
  • You will like your kids friends based on how much you like their mums.
  • Just because you drag your sick self out of bed to do something for them, does not mean you will get a thank you.
  • You will require a drivers licence as you will become a taxi.
  • You will be so happy when you can go to the toilet without an audience.
  • You will appreciate drinking a hot drink whilst it is still hot, or even warm.
  • The minute you try to have a private phone conversation you will have a captive audience.
  • As soon as you sit down, they will need something.
  • Even if the school concert sucks your child will have been a star!
  • You will wonder why you ever thought you didn’t have free time before you were a mum.
  • When your kids are sick you would do anything to make them feel better.
  • You will go to bed exhausted, and wake up exhausted.
  • You will discover that you are more primal than you ever knew you could be.
  • Love will take on a whole new meaning.
  • Your happiness will be tied to theirs for life.
  • You will feel unappreciated.
  • No other child will ever be as adorable as your own.
  • You will be cleaning up crayon, snot, pee and poo off the floor and possibly the walls too.
  • Your heart will be stolen!

My favourite from my own feed is this one;

I want to take a minute to acknowledge that this week on October 11 was International Day of the Girl. This is a great opportunity for us to reflect on how we want to raise our daughters and what example we wish to set for them. Let us also not forget our sons though, I want my son to grow up respecting women too and knowing the way he treats women matters.
