I am so not a morning person, what hour is this anyway? Are you kidding me I just want to crawl back under the covers and put my electric blanket on Boost! It is Winter, it is cold, really cold here today, and let’s face it we are designed to sleep at least until the sun rises! I can embrace Winter once the sun comes up, but it is still dark and I am not nocturnal. I am having flash backs to night feeding my babies, although at least I was snuggling with a cute baby then and not being told by my husband to hurry up because we are on a schedule.(He loves schedules). Now I have to go and wake up those 3 babies, although now they are aged 11, 8 and 5 and no longer need nappies changed or night feeds (thank goodness)! There are things I miss about them being babies, but not that.

I wander down the hallway, at least it’s warming up now, the heater has kicked in, I refuse to get out of bed until the heater is on! Will the kids be grumpy to be woken up so early? Or will they be excited? After all getting up at this indecent hour is kind of an adventure isn’t it?

OK kids awake and success, after an initial grump the excitement kicks in and not just for them, but for me too!! Yes I am excited because we are headed to Queensland for 10 days of sun, glorious sun, warm sun! In a few hours we will be on our plane and headed to Queensland’s North tropical coast! By mid morning we will be there. I should feel guilty that the kids are missing school, and maybe I do a little, but I am too excited to let a pesky thing like being a good mum get in the way of a relaxing holiday! Besides swimming in pools, building sandcastles count as education don’t they? And best of all the get time with their Grandparents, and Grandparent bonding trumps school any day.

One of todays writing prompts for Friday Reflections is to write about what excites me at the moment, and right now getting ready to leave for the airport excites me a lot. It has been a stressful and busy few months. Deciding to sell our home, dealing with Aspen’s emotional reaction to that, along with her diagnoses of migraines it has just been really tiring. Not to mention that when we get back from Queensland we have just 2 weeks to move a whole house load of stuff, and trust me with 3 kids, 2 dogs and 3 cats we have a lot of “stuff” to move! But I am not going to think about packing boxes for 10 whole days, no I am going to think about relaxing and spending quality time together as a family, and yes I am excited about that!

What are you excited about today?

Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx
