When I think about you it is hard to not focus on how you died. I know I shouldn’t let my thoughts go to that place, instead I should remember your infectious laughter, your love of biscuits and your sometimes very crazy, but very cool fashion fashion styles.

I should be remembering how much fun we had dancing around my bedroom to Lenny Kravitz and how we spent so many lazy Sundays lying in my bedroom talking about boys. I should be recalling trips to the beach and crying on each others shoulders when our hearts were broken by those boys.

You were the person who truly got me, you were the person who made me laugh like I had never laughed. You mattered to me! Did you know how much I loved you? The last time I called I had to leave a message, I told you I loved you, I told you that I hoped you were out having fun, did you get my message, did you hear it? I will never know.

The next time I saw you, you were laying in a hospital bed, a machine breathing for you. Brain dead they said.

I sang Lenny Kravitz to you, ‘felids of joy,’ did you hear me? Did you know I was there?

I want to stop being angry that you are gone. I want to stop being so sad.

I miss you.

I want to stop focusing on the fact that you are gone, and focus on how blessed I was that you were here, that you made me so happy, that knowing you made my life better, that being loved by you was such a gift. I hope you can hear me even now, I hope you know how much I will always cherish you.

Have you heard of my other Instagram hashtag Mummy Shot? It is a community on Instagram where you can tag photos that don’t show your little ones full faces on camera. Hope you can join Catie and myself.
