In just one week this little girl will reach double figures, yes in one week my baby girl will be ten. Yesterday she celebrated with friends, ice-cream, cupcakes, laughter and games. She has such wonderful friends who adore her, and who she adores just as much. I remember when she started kindergarten and she refused to talk to any other children. Her shyness held her back and I worried so much if she would ever be able to enjoy having friends. Luckily she was so well liked, the children that surrounded her just wouldn’t give up on her, and although it took 3 terms, eventually she was playing happily with her kinder friends.
She started school without anyone from kinder, and again I worried, yet again children surrounded her and persisted with her shyness. My sweet girl is still quiet, and a mystery for the most part, yet when she is comfortable with who she is with she comes alive, she truly shines. She is quirky and funny and I am so proud to be her mummy. To see her surrounded by all these amazing friends who could see her fun spirit even before she showed it just makes me so happy. My little girl is so loved, I couldn’t ask for more.
As a mum I know I have so much to teach my daughter, yet she also teaches me so much. She has taught me that you can’t always rush things, that you have to be patient, and she has taught me that when you let your true self shine there will always be people there to love you.

Such a beautiful post and picture – your lovely girl reminds me of my Meme who due to her shyness I worry about so much.
Thank you for featuring me. It’s nice to know I’m not alone.
Wish your little princess a very happy 10th Birthday. I love how you say that these wonderful daughters that we have also end up teaching us so much. I hope she has a wonderful day and an even wonderful and happy life 🙂
Wish her a very happy from me. My Big just turned 9,s o they are very close in age and have a lot in common! Let her know that love and hugs are coming to her from as far as Philadelphia, PA in the US! xoxo #mg
Wishing your little one a very happy birthday. The double digits are quite a landmark. I always marvel at how very different each of our children can be. Each of them learn, grow and make friends at their own pace. And we have to learn to let them be.
My youngest turned 10 in December and it is amazing how fast they grow up and make friends, even when you think they won’t. I’m glad to be back posting on your linky Mac! Thanks for hosting!
Aw, hope she had a wonderful 10th birthday.
Totally – letting your true self shine is so important and your daughter has taught you a valuable life lesson there Mac! Thanks for hosting #mag
She looks so happy and I know you are thinking ‘where has the last 10 years gone?’. We can learn so much from our children (and grandchildren in my case). You have a beautiful family Mackenzie and I wish your darling daughter a very happy 10th birthday. xxx
Aww Happy Birthday little girl. It’s lovely to read that she has lots to celebrate with. I can only think she takes after her mother who is truly lovely.
Loving the title! Happy 10th Birthday to your little girl. I still remember how important it felt moving into double digits, even if it was a very long time ago x
