“Through the blur, I wondered if I was alone or if other parents felt the same way I did – that everything involving our children was painful in some way. The emotions, whether they were joy, sorrow, love or pride, were so deep and sharp that in the end they left you raw, exposed and yes, in pain. The human heart was not designed to beat outside the human body and yet, each child represented just that – a parent’s heart bared, beating forever outside its chest.”
― Debra Ginsberg
I will never forget how much Aspen’s new born cry cut right through me. I really hadn’t expected it, of course I was expecting to be affected by my child crying, but it actually felt painful in my chest. Motherhood sure has been much more of a roller coaster than I thought it would be.
Congratulations to @treasureeverym on the birth of her absolutely gorgeous daughter, pictured above. Such a beautiful #mummyshot.
There is nothing quite as awful as when your baby is so sick that they spend days in hospital, or when your child sobs every night after their best friend moves away. And their is nothing that makes you prouder than your shy child up on stage performing beautifully in front of an audience, or the joy seeing their excitement on Christmas morning.
Parenting is full of highs and lows, and plenty of in betweens. Motherhood didn’t happen easily for me, but I sure feel like the luckiest woman in the world! And I know the parents who share their beautiful images on #mummyshot Instagram feel the same way. Here are my favourites shared with us this week! I’m sure you’ll agree they are absolutely precious.

If you would like a chance to be featured on my own, or Catie’s blog, just tag any photo’s of your children/grandchildren with #mummyshot. The only rule is you can not show their full face in the photo. It is about capturing emotion without showing your child’s full face.

Oh I just love that quote by Debra Ginsberg, it is one of my absolute faves as it totally captures the feelings associated with being a parent. Gorgeous shots too as always! 💙
it is such a great quote! Thanks lovely
We love the #mummyshot tag and seeing all the beautiful photos. Thankyou for having us xxxx
oh I am so glad, thank you xx
The feelings for your child never fade, even as they get older and have children of their own! Then, you feel the same way about your grandchildren! The quote by Debra Ginsberg is lovely, but it is supposed to be that way with our hearts because those strong feelings are what make us and keep us maternal or paternal and help us to stay nurturers. Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos on #TwinklyTuesday.
so true, my mum is now a Grandmother to 8 and she says the same she worries now about her children and grandchildren. Thank you for your comment xx
Lovely quote and so true! I often can’t bear it when my children get ill or are apart from me, I worry sick. Gorgeous photos, will be taking part in your Instagram community! #twinklytuesday
