What a mix of emotions this weekend was! We went from giggles and pure joy to tears and devastation!

Saturday was lovely, Adam had been busy making his own plans during the week (as 6 year olds do) to have a sleep over with his Uncle. His Uncle spoils him and always takes him to McDonalds. So Adam decided that his Uncle would take him out for the day, get his hair cut and take him to Maca’s. After that they would go back to his Uncles and play the Wii U for unlimited hours, and then he’d have a sleep over! By Friday he had his suitcase packed,

  • pillow
  • pj’s
  • tooth brush
  • spare undies
  • spare top
  • teddy bear 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.

Come Saturday he was super excited, I was worried it would come to night time and he would want to come home (as he is really attached to me), and he has never slept without his sisters, but nope he had the time of his life! Here he is all packed and ready to go!

He was also getting his hair cut and I am so attached to his hair so I took one last pic!

Saturday was also April’s last day of being 8, she decided she didn’t want to turn 9 so in protest she wore her number 8 T-shirt!

After Adam left we drove to a friends and had coffee and April spent the day hanging out with her bestie! Her best friends mother had invited Aspen for a day of cooking, Aspen was thrilled. So with no children Steve and I got to go out for lunch and do a bit of shopping in peace. We ordered spicy hot soup and chilli dumplings, and although yummy my mouth was on FIRE! I like spicy, but wow this was what you would class as super HOT! We headed back to pick up the girls, Aspen had baked up a storm and even made a chocolate birthday cake for her sister so we had a happy birthday cake a day early.

After we got home you would think Aspen would be baked out! But NO! She got to work on baking her little sister a birthday cake from scratch to have the next day, it looked really lovely, and now that I have tasted it I can tell you it was sooooo good!

Sunday morning I lay in bed listening to the girls giggling and playing. That’s when Steve came into me and told me Aspen’s pet minilop bunny Roxy had passed away during the night! I wrote a post on this HERE. It sent our birthday plans into a spiral, needless to say we were all very upset, Aspen was devastated. Eventually we headed out for a birthday lunch for April that no one was in the mood for, and then April had some spending money so we looked in the shops. April was so sweet she spent part of her money buying her sister a teddy to try and make her feel better. I love watching how they support each other, they are amazing sisters and I hope that bond lasts their entire life.

It wasn’t the best birthday, but we made the most of it and come together as a family. Thank you to everyone who has sent loving messages and left supportive comments on my blog post about losing Roxy, it has meant a lot. It has helped that we still have Roxy’s dad Batman, he has been a comfort.
