Tell me that this has happened to you?
Let me start from the beginning . . .
A while ago I was out with my beautiful mother, we thought we were being good getting in a little pre-Christmas shopping, beating the crowds, and we were feeling pretty proud of ourselves, the first shop we went in was a huge success and we came out with a selection of great pressies, and even had them gift wrapped, “Felling Awesome”!
Second shop we got a little distracted by some tops, I decided to try a selection on as I wanted to make sure they looked good before out laying the cash, okay yes the credit card, shhh. After making my selection we headed over to another section of the store that sells children’s wear, (have you noticed how many adult clothing stores now stock a children’s range also? (I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, these marketing people are smart!) So yes we go along selecting more items to purchase, some Christmas, a couple not. Finally we make it to the register and I go to pull out my purse (you know what’s coming,) it’s gone!
Like GONE, not just the purse, the whole handbag, so I feel myself going into full flight or fight mode, the heartbeat increases, palms sweat, pupils dilate, my thought process flashing, I’m seriously freaking out, how could I be so stupid?!!!!! How could I have just put my handbag down and forgot about it, my beautiful expensive handbag, my newest most favourite handbag with my purse in it with credit cards and cash and lipsticks, hand sanitizer and tissues and the CAR KEYS!!! I won’t even be able to get home, I have to notify the bank, what if someone’s spending on my card as I am thinking stupid thoughts with my stupid dilated pupils and racing heartbeat, I feel sick, mum looks sick, OMG where is my bag?! (Is this the spending Gods trying to tell me something?)
I race to ask the change room assistant as I remembered hanging it on the hook in the change room as I tried on my tops, frantically explaining to the the assistant that I’ve lost my bag, she looks as panicked as me (I guess she knows this feeling too), we race to the change room, where some poor lady gets asked through her curtain “Is there a bag in there?” She peeks around the curtain looking like a deer in headlights, “Ummmm No,” she pulls the curtain across so the sales girl and I can look in and the poor thing looks a sight with her jeans around her ankles as she tries on a skirt, (this lady must be feeling quite violated by now,) my heart races faster when I realise NO BAG!
The lovely sales girl suggests maybe someone’s handed it in at the front counter so I race over there and YES they have!!!!! What a relief I couldn’t have lived without my hand sanitizer (just kidding), I couldn’t have lived without my purse and car keys, well lived yes, but it wouldn’t have made for a happy ending to my story would it!?
In my defence I was so concerned with not losing the pressies we had just purchased, that it distracted me from my bag, but those pressies so beautifully wrapped almost cost me a lot of money! Thank goodness for good Samaritans who hand in lost property and don’t even take any cash.
I guess it’s “do unto others as” . . . I can’t remember the exact saying but something like, “you wish to be done to you.”
So my tip for today . . . if you don’t want to look like a panicked fool running around a clothing store, violating poor people in change rooms, then hang on tight to your handbags ladies!
Thanks for joining me, love Mackenzie xx

Phew I am so glad you found your bag! It’s so reassuring to know there are some decent and honest people out there xx #blogcrush
I know that panicked feeling so well and it’s horrible…all rational thought processes go out of the window! Pleased you got your stuff back though! 😎 #BlogCrush ❤
Oh no 🙈. So glad you got it back though, nice to know there are still good people about x
Poor gal, but I’m sure she understood the panic and all was forgotten and forgiven. 🙂
Last weekend I did the same bloody thing, only I left it at a restaurant one HOUR away from us so the second I called them when I realized after getting home, back in the car we went. It’s a terrible feeling knowing you’ve left something behind, especially if you don’t know if someone has taken it or turned it in.
Glad you found yours. 🙂
Wouldn’t want to be either one of you. That must have been a stressful moment for all. Glad it turned out ok. There are good people in the world. #BlogCrush
Awwwwwkies 😮 . Haha. At least she cooperated! There would be nothing worse than losing my bag, it’s an extension of you like losing an arm! I’m glad you got it back xx #BlogCrush
I cannot possibly count the number of time my Mrs. has done this, also add phone, keys, mail… Oy! Lovely post lovely Mac! Glad you solved it. We have canceled everything more times than I can count on one hand, just this year! #BlogCrush xoxo
I did the same thing in Myers once. Was walking out of the building when I noticed my bag was gone. Up the lift back to the loos, it was still hanging behind the door!!!!
Oh wow! Glad you found it. There’s still good in the world! xx
So glad you got your bag back hun..bet you were in a right panic, I know I would be! Haha, that poor woman..I’m sure she understood the emergency. Thanks for linking up with us for #BlogCrush hun xx
Glad you got your bag back. It’s so easy to put things down when you’re out and forget where you left them. Hopefully the woman wasn’t too freaked!
Just read this, Mac. I know the feeling. I had it just last week when I misplaced my money. It’s crazy how your thoughts go racing around. I guess it’s times like this that test our mettle. Glad your story had a happy ending. ♥
